The Economist passes 1.5 million circulation, fuelled by increase in digital subscribers

The circulation of The Economist has passed the 1.5 million mark for the first time. It has achieved print circulation of 1,487,010 in the latest ABC period [ABC UK/US July-December 2011], combined with a digital-only paid circulation of more than 100,000 in December 2011.

The latest ABC circulation figures for The Economist confirm continued growth in the UK and around the world. In the UK, year-on-year circulation growth was 7.7% to 210,318. Globally, circulation of The Economist has grown by 3% to reach 1,486,838.

Presenting arguments for and against each issue, the three double posters will ask if trying to slash immigration is a good or a bad idea, whether or not Britain should give up trying to be a global power, and if China is a threat or friend to the West.

The Economist and the Financial Times today publish a new global survey which reveals the depth of pessimism amongst the world’s business elite regarding the euro debt problem. Despite the bail-outs of Greece, Ireland and Portugal, the majority (62%) of global respondents felt the worst was yet to come, with executives in North America the most pessimistic at 70%.

Presenting arguments for and against each issue, the posters will ask if hosting the Olympics is a waste of money and if the baby boomer generation has left a good or a rotten inheritance.
